I see your true colors shining through

Okay, I know I said I wouldn't be back until Wednesday but I found these two articles which I think speak volumes about the priorities of the Bush administration.

Firms with White House ties get Katrina contracts.

Bush lifts wage rules for Katrina.

So, Haliburton subsidiaries get the big contracts and then Bush makes certain that the federal money stays in the pockets of the suits rather than being passed on to the people who actually do the work. Can someone explain to me how he can possibly justify this action to himself, let alone to the American public?

I was wondering who Michael Brown was friends with in order to get that job. This whole Cheney/Halliburton/Bechtel business is really disgusting. Worse than disgusting!

I'm not normally in agreement with Kennedy, but this time his criticism is on target.

I don't get the wage rule suspension at all. Bush continues to dig a deeper hole concerning this whole mess he's created.

No, I cannot explain how he can justify anything he does, and I cannot explain how he is able to sleep at night.

I saw both of these articles yesterday as well.

It seems as if the rich keep profiting from tragedy in this country, whether it be from the winds of war, or the winds of nature. It is completely disgusting. Are these no bid contracts, do you know?

Can Bush be any worse? No. He's as bad as it gets. But we keep learning more about how bad he is.

Like Meegan, I can't figure out how Bush can sleep at night. He must have no conscience whatsoever. A friend said she thinks his Katrina mishandling might lead to a real political shakeup in our country. One can hope, but I know how short Americans' memory can be.

He justifies what he does by living in a world that's different from the real one. The majority of his big decisions have been things that make perfect sense, if you accept his premise of how the world works. It's our loss that he's never seen reality.

Don - I find the cutting of wages to be the more upsetting thing, myself...and this regime has been using companies a lot closer to home a lot more often than most. That's why the reaction, I think.
