The Face of Evil

Alright, it's a melodramatic post title but it fits.

Check out this link. It is an article regarding Cheney's attempts to keep Congress and others from passing more restrictive rules regarding how we can treat prisoners and detainees. The man is doing everything he can to maintain his right to torture people.

I don't know how much Bush knows about what Cheney and his cohorts are up to. If Bush doesn't know then he is incompetent and out of touch. If he does know then he is as guilty as the rest of them.

This is not the America I love. This is not the will of the people. These people have got to go.

Cheney's approval rating is 19%.
Maybe there is hope that we can turn back from becoming the United States of Jesus.

Tonight, in the UK, Blair is trying to talk parliament into being able to detain suspects for 90 days without trial.

We had 30 years of a serious highly organised and efficient IRA group, and did not require extra laws.

Police state?

Not so long ago, the US and the UK were criticising Eastern European governments over the very same use of law.

It`s okay if we have no rights...take away the rights of another country, and we`ll invade.

I like the new look too.

I don't know who to believe any more on all this political stuff. However, it seems to me that the Geneva Convention should cover all this already. If Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Blair or anyone else is contravening the GC, they most certainly must be held accountable. If not now, then in the not-too-distant future.

Be careful not to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Note this caveat in the article: putting him at odds with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and acting Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon R. England. It's not everyone in the administration which sancions Cheney.

However, if we would just be one of the last nations on earth and ratify one of the most recent additions to the Geneva Convention, we wouldn't have to worry about this at all.

Someone high up in government needs to tell Cheney to sit down and shut up.
