Godless Mom in the Bible Belt

Phew! Praise Jesus that your marriage is safe. However, you've still got to watch out for your child -- those homosexuals are sneaky and are trying to recruit our kids.

Unfortunately, its not really that shocking that the prop passed. This country has a lot of sheep in it. I think in time, we will not have this problem.

In the late 1950s, or early 1960's (sorry i dont have the exact source) people used references from the bible to defend laws that prevented interracial marriage. In one case, the judge said in his ruling:

"Almighty God created the races white, black, yellow, malay, and red, and he placed them on separate continents. And but for the interference with his arrangement there would be no cause for suck marriages. The fact that he separated the races show that he did not intend for the races to mix"

This was eventually appealed and the supreme court ruled in 1967 the miscegenation laws were unconstitutional.

My point is eventually, this issue wont seem any different than the issue then. It will just take a long time. I will prbably be old and my son will probably have children already, but...I do think one day it will not be such a problem.

You might need to move. Some parts of the country will be a lonnnngggg time in changing.

I understand it may be a long time in changing... thats why i acknowledged that it probably wont happen til my son is grown and has his own kids...(he's not even 2yrs old yet...)

I'm neither diappointed nro surprised. Most, if not all, of the south is just not ready for this. No one really expected any different; I think it's actually some progress. Little bit here, little bit there.
Remember it's not just Texas, dear. We are the 19th state to pass this law. More to come. And many are in the north, so this is an American prejudice, not just Texas. Actually with a couple of cxceptional countries, it's a worldwide prejudice.

Higher Powered has a point, last year my own Blue State of Michigan went and made Anita Bryant proud.
I still think Blue Staters should invade the bible belt though.
I'd like to go to Mississippi or something and NOT praise Jesus, but I'm afraid of being lynched.

Texas should definitely be given back to Mexico.

*sigh* It's crazy, isn't it? What are people so afraid of? I'm married to a woman, and so far as I know I haven't hurt or detracted from a single heterosexual couple's marriage.

I am sorry to hear that the bigotry prevailed once again. It will change though. At some point it will.
